SHS Swimming

1/31 at the Atrisco Invitational in Albuquerque. The boys just had five swimmers while the girls had only two swimmers at this meet. Some of the other team members were at the Science Olympiad that day.

Notable results:

The boys had six personal bests and were seventh out of 10 teams: 

100 yard freestyle: Ben Watkins, fourth, 53.14.

100 yard breaststroke: Ben Watkins, fifth, 1:11.12.

200 yard medley relay: Socorro A team was ninth, 2:09.88.

200 yard freestyle relay: Socorro A team was seventh, 1:48.50.

The girls had three personal bests and one season best. 

100 yard backstroke: Breanne Lucero, 13th, 1:33.74; Stella Candelaria, 14th, 1:39.87.

Alamo basketball

The Cougars are currently 16-4 for the season and first place at 5-0 in their district. The Lady Cougars are 10-8 overall and also first in their district at 4-0.

1/30 JH boys and girls at Corona.

1/30 V girls won 59-28 against NACAECA co-op team.

2/03 V boys won 101-24 and girls won 64-16 at Carrizozo.

2/05 V boys and girls at Vaughn, 4:00 p.m.

2/07 JH boys and girls at Reserve JH Tournament.

2/10 JV/V boys and girls at home vs. Mountainair, 3 p.m.

2/13 V boys and girls at Hondo, 4 p.m.

SHS Lady Warriors basketball

The Lady Warriors are 3-18 for the season. 

1/31 V lost 50-41 at Bosque.

2/03 V lost 43-25 at home versus Hatch.

2/05 V at Cobre, 5:30 p.m.

2/07 JV at Hatch, 10 a.m.

2/09 JV at home vs. Magdalena, 5 p.m.

2/10 V at Hot Springs, 5:30 p.m.

SHS Cheer 

The SHS Cheer team will cheer at most home basketball games, eighth grade and up.

SHS Charisma Blues Dance

1/31 NMSU Spirit Championships.

"It went well. We placed second within the 2A-3A Pom division," Head Coach Stefanie Bunning said.

SMS Braves

1/28 at Pojoaque. Both SMS teams lost.

The seventh graders finished the season at 6-6 overall, while the eighth graders were about 4-11 overall for the season. They had far more successes than their records reflect though.

“We had a lot of close games and the boys improved this year, and we hope that they keep improving. It was a good season. We learned a lot, and so did the boys. For sure a fun season,” said coaches Alisha (eighth grade coach) and Mark Benavidez, aka Coach Bundy (seventh grade coach).
