SHS Wrestling
2/6-7 Girls Regionals in Roswell. Arasely Moreno, Kalena Vanlandingham, Maria Ruiz Jaquez and Tatum Rosales advanced to the State Championships with their wins in Roswell.
“[They] wrestled their hearts out, really did a good job,” Head Coach Joel Partridge said.
Only seven girls from each weight class in the whole region advanced to state in this competitive format.
“Our other girls wrestled well too,” Partridge said, a reminder to focus on the entire team’s efforts, not only those who advanced.
Partridge also emphasized the credit that coaches David Gutierrez and Jada Castillo deserved for the weekend.
“Fantastic job coaching,” Partridge said of those two coaches. “Lights should be shined on them.”
The boys continue preparing for their regionals with practices each evening this week.
“We’re really excited about the upcoming event,” Partridge said, looking ahead to the boys’ regionals this weekend.
2/13-14 Boys Region 2 Championships in Santa Teresa, times TBA.
