Magdalena students witness falcon release
(July 19) A dozen Magdalena students were on hand Friday to witness the release of five more Aplomado Falcons at the tri-agency site about 20 miles south of San Antonio, N.M.
New jail security cameras are online
(July 19) Socorro County Detention Center Personnel were trained on the new camera security system on Wednesday, July 16. Martin Chavez who was conducting the training said all the new cameras in the detention center are up and running and recording. He said all the cameras are recording at the rate of four frames per second. That rate creates a continuous recording.

Three men die in July 11 car crash
(July 16) On Friday night (July 11) a car carrying four Socorro men crashed into the ditch on the west side of Chaparral Drive. The wreck killed the driver, Lawrence Anthony Archibeque, 24; and two passengers, Victor Savedra, 39, and Gary Romero, 28. The fourth man, David Sedillo, age unknown, managed to escape serious injury.
Board approves airport-plan money
(July 16) Plans for nearly $100,000 in improvements at the airport in Magdalena started down the runway when the village's Board of Trustees formally accepted a New Mexico Department of Transportation Aviation Division grant.
County hesitates to make wolf pact
